LATANYA MICHELL BROOKS
LaTanya Brooks is not only a children's book author, speaker, and educator—she is also a passionate advocate for equity and opportunity. As an African American woman and minority, her journey has been one of overcoming barriers and striving to create spaces where all children, regardless of their background, have the chance to thrive. Growing up, she was taught that no one should be disadvantaged due to gender, disability, or circumstances beyond their control. This belief has driven her to use education as a powerful tool for change, both in her life and in the lives of those she teaches.
LaTanya's academic journey started at the University of Houston, where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems, followed by a Master of Business Administration from American InterContinental University. Despite her success in the business world, in 2006, she shifted her focus to education—a decision motivated by her desire to inspire and uplift future generations.
Her personal mission is to encourage children, especially those who are at-risk or from underrepresented communities, to pursue careers in STEM. "I want to design books that inspire children to dream big and see themselves in STEM fields," she explains. "As an educator, I am committed to promoting STEM awareness and helping build a more diverse and inclusive community in these fields."
LaTanya’s story is one of resilience, advocacy, and the unwavering belief that the mind is ever expanding and capable of incredible achievements.
